Welcome New Users!
I just got back from a wonderful trip to Anaheim and WonderCon. I met a lot of you there and got a chance to introduce us and our services to a lot of creator/publishers. I love attending conventions. Conventions are invigorating. They make you want to go home and create! They give you that drive to finally finish up that next issue you’ve been working on for a mighty long time. It’s heartening to see the passion to create comics in so many people.
We’re seeing that here at Ka-Blam also … in the form of a flood of orders from new users. We’re thrilled to see so many new orders from first time customers! If you’re one of those first time customers, let me say … “Welcome.” We’re happy you’ve decided to give us a try. We’ll do our best to make sure you’re experience is everything it should be. We understand that your comics are important to you and that you’ve got concerns (and probably questions) about the process, so let me take a moment or two to address some of the more frequent questions and concerns we see.
The most common question we get is — “WHEN WILL I HAVE MY INVOICE!?!” And, yes, it usually comes in all caps and with bonus punctuation. :)
To which we answer — ”Don’t worry, we won’t forget to ask for your money.” Invoicing can sometimes take a couple of days (or a week … or so). Why? Before we send out an invoice we check the files that have been uploaded to make sure that they’re in compliance with our technical specs and that they are in fact printable. Unfortunately, that’s a time intensive process. We have to look at each and every page of your comic before invoicing you. Tech specs are not optional. It can’t be close. It has to be right.
You can help us speed up the process by being sure you’ve read and familiarized yourself with our tech specs. We even provide page templates to help you be sure you get it right. Nothing — absolutely nothing — slows down the process more than dealing with improperly prepared files. We have to put the order on hold, notify the user of problems, wait for the fixes and re-uploads, and then start over again. Being aware of what is needed and making sure your files comply will allow us to get invoices out to you much faster.
(FYI … We’re presently completely re-coding and re-designing the entire Ka-Blam site. We’re changing and improving (and streamlining) a few of our process along with it. Once implemented — soon we hope — the invoicing process will go much, much faster. But for now, it still takes a few days.)
The second most common question we get is — “When will I get my invoice?” Yeah, I know, same question minus the all caps and bonus punctuation, but sometimes there’s a different answer. That different answer is … “We DID! ”
After we’ve verified that your files are printable (or in some cases notified you of the problem that’s keeping them from being printable) we’ll email (to the address you provided on your user registration form) an invoice notification. Sometimes however certain email clients don’t seem to like our invoices and divert them to the SPAM folder. So please be sure that you’re checking your SPAM box when looking for an invoice — or better yet, whitelist all emails from ka-blam.com so that your SPAM blocker doesn’t reject us. Once you receive the invoice notification visit the Ka-Blam User Control panel. Just click the “my orders” button and then you’ll see a Pay with Paypal button.
Now if you DID get the invoice and you DID make a payment but your order status still shows as unpaid, then that means we’ve screwed up. It happens. Not often, but sometimes we do miss a payment. So please, after you’ve paid your invoice check your order status. If it’s still showing unpaid the day after you paid please let us know right away. Just drop us a line in the message center. In most cases the status changes automatically right after payment is made, but almost every day there’s one or two instances where that status didn’t automatically update. Like I said, we usually catch this the next morning, but every once in a while we miss one. So please keep an eye on your order and let us know if we’ve missed your payment.
As always we’re happy to help with any question or problem you may have. Just contact us in the message center!
