I'm planning on creating a children's book and was referred to this website by a friend. I'm kinda bummed that you stopped with hardcovers, but I think my book idea can also work as a paperback. I want my book to have both words and pictures, maybe with the left sheets having text and the right sheets having the picture, or maybe the pages can have the pictures with the text at the bottom or top of the pages. I see Ka-Blam can print comics, magazines, and manga, but could you also help print children's books?

If I, here in Sweden, were to place an order today with the standard turnaround rate, would we have them in our hands before the last weekend in April? Or would you advise us to pay to detract a week just to be sure? I remember placing a standard order on March 3rd last year and shipping occuring on April 19th yet still managing to get to us in good time for our convention last time.

Is it possible to restrict the amount of prints that can be ordered on the IndyPlanet. Say if I wanted to only have a run of 7500 for the first issue (I hope that it would get that high) could it be stopped automatically stopped. That's just to say that maybe you want to create value on the comic and the later re-issue would take its place. I hope I am asking this correctly.

Could be I missed some important news here: I've noticed that the ComicsMonkey store link redirects to IndyPlanet. Wondering if that site is closed or being repaired.. Can I still tell comic book shops that they'll get a 35% discount?

HI Chris,
We do ship to PO Boxes--frequently and often :O)
If you are seeing that let me know where. It's an artifact that that shouldn't be there.
Thanks!

This is about as good a spot to ask: Will Ka-Blam ever consider allowing shipping to P.O. boxes across the board? The reorder page still says USPS boxes are a no-no..

I do IndyPlanet sales a couple times a day. Purchases are credited to a creators account at that time.
If you have names I can research the purchases. If they paid by check or have an unpaid order pending of course it will not show until the purchase is paid for.
The book you are referencing to is tied to another creators account. It is an anthology. Unless creator splits have been set up previously, all sales information (numbers, royalties, etc) go to the person who made this order originally. You must contact them regarding sales information.
Cheers,
Jen

How accurate are your stats? I've had people tell me they've purchased books, but it remains at the same number for days. Or, does it only change after it is shipped? Thanks!

I bought a Huey Pro a while back, but haven't been able to understand how to get it to work properly, it just made everything on the screen look blue-ish. I suppose I could try to manually adjust my settings until my screen looks like my printed comic, but that might not work very well. I dunno, the problem I get is that my colors look so much lighter in value on my screen than in my printed book.

Here's a walkthrough for those true noobs who can't work their way around Photoshop (including me*):

HOW TO MAKE YOUR COMIC BOOK PRINT-READY USING PHOTOSHOP AND THE APPROPIATE TEMPLATE:

1. Open your comic book page and appropiate template in Photoshop (FILE>OPEN>...)
2. Click on the page, then SELECT>ALL, EDIT>COPY
3. Click on the template, then SELECT>ALL, EDIT>PASTE. Your page (layer 1)should now be on top of the template (layer 0)
4. change opacity to verify ("Uh, still trying to figure this one out" :S )
5. Right-click page, then EDIT>TRANSFORM>SCALE. You can now change the size to the appropiate proportion using the template as a guide by dragging the box handles around the image. Click the image twice to set.
6. Delete the template from the layers menu (WINDOWS>LAYERS) by clcking layer 0, then the trash icon in the lower right corner. Click 'yes' to confirm
7. FILE>SAVE AS... in a different file and name to retain appropiate template; FORMAT: TIFF, COMPRESSION: LZW
8. Congratulations! You're done with that page. Good luck!

(*Seriously. I was doing triumphant body-builder poses when I figured it out.)
